In 2000 the parish of St Luke’s in the City created and blessed a canvas Labyrinth designed to fit the interior of the 1909 Halswell stone & brick church building. For 10 years that Labyrinth was available to the community for a week every month. The canvas Labyrinth was destroyed as a consequence of the loss of the church building, following the February 2011 earthquakes. The parish, with assistance from members of the Student Volunteer Army, has now constructed an outdoor Labyrinth employing recovered masonry from the church building. The parish offers this new outdoor Labyrinth to the city as a place for quiet, reflection, and spiritual nourishment.
